My second time here and I'm bummed I missed the calamari before the menu changed. We decided to get the clams and mussels for appetizer and it was so good! Came with focaccia to dip in the broth and my bf loved it! I ordered the fettuccine with funghi sauce and he ordered the fettuccine with pomodoro as well. We're usually skeptics about paying sm for pasta that could be made at home, HOWEVER, this pasta tasted so fresh that we agreed the price was reasonable. The service was amazing as well, they pay a lot of detail to cleaning the table multiple times, changing silverware, pouring water, and asking if you need anything. We sat in the front patio and it is really cute. I've sat in the back as well and I think I prefer that more. Overall it was really cute for a date night. MUST BOOK RESERVATION BEFORE.

i have to stop by @cesarinapasta every time i'm in san diego @cesarinapasta is seriously one of my favorite spots to get italian food. it's too bad they're only based in san diego, because they'd do so well in the bay area. their pastas are all made in house and it's seriously all so good. the noodles are cooked to a perfect al dente and captures the sauce on every bite. i really have no complaints about this place. the crispy octopus is so tender and has the perfect char on the outside. the flavor leans more on the sweet side from the honey glaze. this is a great place to take someone to for their birthday because they gift you with a free polaroid photo, and a table side tiramisu service. what we ordered: cocomero polpo paccheri alla vodka and scampi paccheri bolognese lumache alla norma

One of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. If you're looking for authenticate Italian food and top notch service this is the place to go. The servers are always fantastic here, and make you feel so welcomed. It truly is what makes this restaurant stand out and why we keep going back! Our favorite item that we always order is the octopus as an appetizer. The char on the octopus mixed with the broiled broccoli and creaminess of the potatoes is absolutely superb. I cannot recommend this dish enough. The menu is designed to allow you to customize your own pasta dish or select from a pre-made dish. All of the pastas we got were amazing. I will say the portion sizes are big, so you can easily share a pasta dish with another person. We ordered the gnocchi dish which was just recently added to the menu and it exceeded my expectations. The creaminess mixed with the truffle was so yummy. If you look the mushroom truffle flavor, you need to get this pasta. Always a pleasure dining here, can't wait to be back!

Great restaurant! Was able to snag a lunch weekday reservation outside on the patio. Parking is a little tricky but during lunch there are spots across the street. Everything we tried was delicious! The complimentary focaccia is perfect and the starters were also excellent. The pasta was fresh and incorporated well with the sauces that were also tasty. It was nice that you could either build your own pasta bowl or pick from their specialty pastas. My only regret was not having enough room for dessert. Can't wait to come back to try other menu offerings!

Cesarina: you have stolen my heart forever and I cannot wait to return! I can't even begin to tell you how lovely this restaurant experience was for me, my niece and co-habby. The amount of adorable detail that is abundant throughout the restaurant made us all smile and giggle. From the cute chicken pitchers made in Italy to the colorful takeout boxes and bags. So much thought was put into making every dining moment incredibly memorable for every one of their guests. Service was warm and wonderful...couldn't ask for a better staff and they gave us some great recommendations which we went with. Their cocktails were light and refreshing on a hot summer day. They also bring out complimentary tomato focaccia with sauce to dip into it. Yum! Pappardelle al Brasato de Manzo: tender braised beef cheek and shortrib, homemade spinach and egg Pappardelle. This was rich and utterly sublime and the meat was very tender and flavorful. Spaghetti allo Scoglio: spaghetti chock full of mussels and seafood with a bit of garlic and tomato sauce. This was a hit with the co-habs! Pappardelle Pomodoro Fresco: Pappardelle with tomato sauce, parm, burrato and a bit of pesto. My niece added on meatballs and was a happy camper. The piece de resistance was definitely their Tableside Tiramisu. Homemade lady fingers soaked in espresso, then topped with mascarpone cream was the perfect end to our meal. They took a polaroid of all of us at the end and put it in the cutest little paper frame. Thank you Cesarina for such a marvelous time! We cannot wait to return. 5 incredible stars.

My 14 year-old daughter and I came here on a whim as a result of the favorable reviews. It did not disappoint--it was definitely the best meal we had on our trip. It started with delicious, chewy, soft bread with a tomato-based dipping sauce that we both raved about. My daughter had rigatoni with red sauce and mozzarella, which was cooked al dente and expertly seasoned. I had the caprese salad, which was fabulous. A large portion of burrata with a dollop of pesto sat atop arugula, wedged tomatoes, and sun-dried tomatoes. I came away stuffed, while wishing I had an extra stomach to eat another portion--it was that good. The stracciatella was heavenly. We sat on the outdoor patio, which was tastefully decorated and comfortable with a cool breeze. Our waitress was great, and the food was prepared quickly. I will add this to my list of must-stop restaurants for the next time I'm in San Diego.

What a romantic little restaurant! Came here for my birthday and was so happy I did! We got both of the pasta specials of the day with a choice of our sauce and both were SO GOOD! Also, the bread and dipping sauce at the table is sooo good, I always love when they do that! After we ate they brought out a birthday treat and took our photo to remember the day, it was so sweet! Overall this place is great for celebrations and date night or just for a good plate of pasta! I would recommend making a reservation and plan ahead for parking
